You’ll never change people like that and what she’s doing is the very definition of slander. I’d start keeping a journal of things you’ve heard, the people involved and dates. Keep it for yourself just in case you ever need it.
Separately, notifying HR of the things you’re hearing may be a wise move. Especially to protect yourself in this terrible market.
Again, do not tell them about the journal you’re keeping. Just speak with HR to get this slander issue on record. And when you talk to HR, act sympathetic and stress how much you went out of your way to try and help her.
And put it in writing with HR. Paper trails matter. Even a diary of events and corroborating accounts can help.
I met people like this before. You’ll never change them. They are effective at manipulating for a while but they’ll get what’s coming to them pretty fast

I’m from the Midwest, so I’m familiar with it. Just feels like an odd thing to jump to — makes me wonder if this ACD might be the one I’m talking about ;)
I’m working with someone just like this right now. I’m detached and doing the work with a smile, watching her dig her own hole
Unhinged ACDs are great in bed
Found the unhinged ACD!
I had a partner who texted me stuff that was incredibly offensive about me but then claimed it was about someone else. So clearly he was telling everyone. It felt like if I brought it up I’d be a ‘difficult person to work with’ so I just tolerated it. We were very successful because of me. A year later I’m at a great agency and they’re at a place nobody has heard of in a small market. Honestly it kinda fucked me up and I have a hard time feeling satisfied with their poor outcome.

Right. Like she was so disrespectful and terrible to work with but I don’t enjoy seeing her fail like this.
The good news is, 1) the company seems to know she’s a toxic asset, and 2) she’s not your boss. I had a similar situation except the person who refused to listen while submitting work the client didn’t like and blaming me for things I had seen coming was my direct superior (which reflected poorly on her, but certainly didn’t make my life any easier).
They’re away from you. Stay quiet, everyone knows or will know they are the problem.
Why aren’t they firing them instead?

From what I understand it’s a “soft” firing. They moved her to the other account to work on one project.
