After 12+ years of teaching, the routines that hold up are usually the boring ones. The one I still swear by is a very fixed start-of-class routine. I have the bell ringer, agenda, and materials on the board every day, and students know the first few minutes are quiet and focused. I greet them at the door, redirect the usual drifters, and then let the routine do the work.
I’ve found kids do better when they do not have to guess how class begins. What routines do you rely on?

Routines are absolutely critical, especially for small children. So many studies find that kids who have consistent routines will flourish. Similar to you, I love to have routines during transition times to help keep things orderly. Certain activities the kids can expect at certain times of day. It's a life saver.

Bell ringer, objectives on the board, Partner A and B for Think Pair Share, and for math, correct and question time. For Social Studies two column notes for all lectures and videos.

Well two reasons, they allow for easy studying for students and 2. my district is doing the Mrs. Westerberg method of step up to writing methods and it is school wide.

I know that if I don't have a bit to eat before I see students then I will be a beast with them. So my routine is to always try and snag some breakfast. It helps immensely.

Hi everyone. I was a solution engineer at Oracle. I graduated from college in May and this was my first job out of college so the lay offs were pretty rough. I majored in Supply chain management and I have 2 internships under my belt. Do you guys have any advice or tips on what to do moving forward? I would like to stay in tech and I’m giving it a few weeks before I start pivoting to more traditional supply chain roles. Thanks.

I have an old 2006 Camry that I am eventually looking to replace (it is currently worth 2k). Have always wanted to learn about cars and how to do stuff with it and would like to use this car as an opportunity to pick up a hobby. What resources can anyone suggest (books / videos etc) where I can do car-related stuff, from the simple to hopefully more complicated as I get better. Thanks

If my lawyer sent a document with my signature on my behalf to the judge/investigator before I was ready for them to and didn’t notify me till several hours later when I asked when the final doc would go be ready for me to review, should I be upset? I was not copied or bcc’d on the email so I feel like this is unacceptable but not sure what lawyers usually do.
