AI is moving into insurance faster than anyone expected and it’s changing how a lot of us work, but I’m starting to wonder what happens if we don’t create new roles to balance out the ones technology is taking over. Some people say it will free us up for more strategic work while others feel like entire functions could quietly disappear. What do you think will happen to our industry if AI keeps expanding and companies aren’t creating enough new jobs to replace what’s lost?

The point in AI is to reduce the labor/cost. They don't plan on opening more jobs to balance. This is why there was a proposal for a basic income ten years ago. So the future will be interesting on the economic level.

You think companies are going to introduce “new roles“ just because AI is saving them money? You do realize the biggest allotment of money is staff, that’s why they layoff first. If you’re so nervous about it getting into a new role that AI can’t make its way into just yet or find a new industry.

In my experience, the sales role has remained the same, however AI is handing off leads. This is becoming more common I’ve noticed over the past two years. Who’s to say that eventually AI cannot hand over more vetted leads essentially removing the human decision making from the equation?

Chubb just said it’s reducing its workforce by 20% over the next four years because of AI development and it’s across a ton of departments. So when I felt like commercial underwriting was going to be safe from AI, that article made me rethink it. At travelers, we have TravAI and it does contract reviews for us.

Ai is going to wipe out a lot of white collar jobs. The next 24 months will be very telling.

White collar service jobs are going bye-bye. People who work in the trades, much of healthcare, social work, etc will keep their jobs. Thank the likes of McKinsey and Bain for all this coupled with Neoliberalism and the fall of labor unions

Now, a better opportunity came along and I don't have anything to show for my talent as a designer. ALWAYS take credit for what you do, even if it's not your project to begin with.
