Alright I need guidance. I’ve done the paperwork for a security clearance, but couldn’t input the data for my delinquent debt without including a some kind of court number.

They’ve reached out and asked about it and told them about it what happened. I can’t afford to lose this opportunity and need to know if I’m screwed because of that or not or if I’ll even get a chance to move forward or not. I’m stressed tf out over it.

Is it over $10,000? Maybe. Over $100,000 you're probably not hierable. It depends on the company and how bad your credit is, they can't have someone desperate for money working in a position that has to say no to bribes. Lots of variables at play

Not to mention with a six figures you’d be absolutely inept not to be able to maintain your finances and jeopardize your career in that way

Be honest—this is critical. If you're filling out the SF-86, include any debts you owe, the reason they became past due, and the steps you've taken (and are currently taking) to resolve them. If possible, request a letter from the creditor confirming that you’re "current under a revised repayment plan"—this can go a long way. If the debt is over $10,000 but you're not applying for a Top Secret clearance, you may still be eligible for Secret or Confidential. I'll say it again: honesty is key. How you disclose your financial situation speaks volumes about your character and trustworthiness.
