At my university the consulting program is up and coming. Now I am part of consulting club leadership and want to know:
What do you wish your consulting club did for you to land a high profile consulting gig and be successful in it?

My firm has applied for my L1A visa. If that gets denied, my plan is to travel to Canada and re enter US immediately on B1/B2 visa (already have valid B1/B2 stamp) so that I'll get time to figure out things here in the US (sell my stuff, handle my bank accts etc). Is it possible for me to reenter US on tourist visa?

Any book recommendations for philosophy, psychology, and business? Or any book you read last year changed your values? Going to fly international, gonna read it on flight. 😍

Any other first years out there worry that this virtual environment just won’t be able to teach them? I worry I’m not getting the same “plugged in” experience when I can’t knock on a door or walk into an office. Doesn’t help that my anxiety is heightened by feeling so isolated. The learning curve is high enough as is and I’m not sure I’ll ever learn enough virtually to be useful in big law...am I alone?!?

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. Any suggestions for self help books on anxiety? Been dealing with anxiety for quite some time now and have been seeing a therapist but also just want to see what other resources are out there.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
