I relate to this post so much. I was recently laid off and hadn't needed a resume since 2018 or before. I started applying with my newly updated resume and got NO responses. I was getting really discouraged until I found out about ATS. 🙄 I put my resume into ChatGPT and spent a few hours going back and forth, making sure everything was AI-ready. Once Chat finally told me it was perfect for ATS, I began applying again and got two responses almost instantly! I highly recommend going through that process - it's a bit tedious but it was a game-changer, even just for my confidence in applying. I don't think it's about the layout or program used, it's all about ATS key words.
Definitely, but I would say it all depends on the type of job you're looking for. Some key words might be insignificant for certain jobs, but having an extensive list is super helpful. For example, I was looking for graphic design, but I have 5 years of experience as a manufacturing supervisor and definitely wanted to include that in my key words to show leadership abilities. I personally wasn't willing to use multiple resumes, but I'm sure that could be very helpful in some cases.
As long as you submit as a pdf it will be able to read it. Many ATS can’t view jpeg or png
Use ai to build it in a format it can read.
