White ppl grouped up into a clique at the beginning and don't talk to me 🥲 all my efforts to talk to them got ignored so I gave up 🤷♀️
Awww
I don’t have this issue so far but…My workplace is so white and I’m the only Asian lol and I realized so much difference. I was raised in super Asian way but a lot of things that our culture praises do not stand out or gain much advantage in America/super white workplace 😅
woman Filipina second year attorney here! Best piece of advice I can give is to find Asian attorney mentors (associate level and partner level) - preferably at your firm or through your alumni network
Yes! I currently have a mentor (also a friend) like this who’s senior counsel at another firm.

I sought out POC Partner mentors and I took Junior POC lawyers under my wing. I also developed resilience and thick skin and let my work product speak for itself. Also, join your local affinity bar association group.
I had a generally positive experience in that I didn’t feel that I was treated poorly based on ethnicity. I did find it hard to relate and make good friends at work because my culture is so different and my parents are immigrants. I will say that I did get bad interactions with opposing counsel from other firms but their rude behavior was mostly due to my gender (I assume this because I am the only female POC attorney in the area and white female attorneys would also be treated poorly by certain attorneys in the community )
