Hi everyone! First time posting here. I am in a good sales role at my current company but it’s my first solid AE role in the tech industry. I am interested in exploring other opportunities as I know there are a lot out there, but is anyone else worried about the current economic state? Another day passes without a job. To all those unhappy in your current positions of employment, imagine being among the long-term unemployed with no unemployment checks, no savings, and a job market where even getting a fast food job is nearly impossible due to COVID workplace restrictions faced by many places like mine. Okay so I’m a newly licensed attorney in a very conservative part of TX. I just got my first job offer and I was worried at first thinking that I was in “Trump” territory, but I tested the waters in my interview and spoke about police injustices and how prosecutor’s job is not only to protect victims, but also defendants from police injustices. I have to let them know by tomorrow, but thoughts on if this is a good career move for someone who wants to work in transactional work-RE or Bankruptcy?

My work quality is slipping due to brain fog and mental health issues and I don’t know how to address it with my firm or who to go to. I was considered one of the best associates in our practice group, but now it can take me 3-4x the time to write an average brief. I can’t seem to think and organize my thoughts any more. Was told the lack of diverse partnership was because there wasn’t good minorities to hire. How do I even address this stupidity.

Does anyone feel like it’s difficult to gain acceptance and find allies when you’re a POC? I have attended happy hours, social events, and lunches, but I am not getting the same amount of traction as the other new lawyers who are white. Don’t know whether I should keep trying or just give up. Also don’t know whether it’s my personality or people at the firm. 😢

I don’t cut my hours, I consistently reach 7 hours a day, but it’s not enough to meet my firm’s minimum requirement. I’m usually working 9 hours/day.

Single black female. Late 30s, no kids. Is it better to practice in a smaller market that’s close to major cities, lots of professional opportunities, but no real single professional scene? OR be in a bigger pond/major city with more professional and networking opportunities, oversaturated with lawyers of color, more competition for professional opportunities, but bigger dating pool?
