Airport lockers?
Check out mifold. Great solution for this type of thing.
^ horrible advice. Kids are way safer rear facing, then front in full seat, then booster. In order. Should def max height or weight before progressing. It’s on the order of 50% better crash outcomes, hardly a nominal improvement. The science is quite strong on this and APA just alters their reco to “rear facing as long as possible."
Try a Trunki BoostApak. We’ve been using it since my son was 3.5 and it’s still going strong at 8
Safety first still but just seeing if others have done anything. Not going to a place with Uber car seat.
We use a Bubble Bum inflatable booster seat for our oldest. I think the minimum weight is 40 lbs.
We have a car seat that's rated up to 35lbs and leave the base at home. It's fairly light weight, and we use it in the rental car, too. Doesn't work in Europe, sadly enough, because it's not EU rated.
We always get an Uber with a car seat
Kids on lap. Just like my folks did!
Mifold is the way to go
Try a kid friendly car service? Ride in Bliss is one we’ve used in Chicago
Uber family, Bliss, OHare Personal Valet. Lots of solutions
Mifold looks awesome!
Why don’t you switch to a booster? It’s probably about time for that anyways. Much smaller and easier to carry. Or just lap ride for the 10 min. It’s technically not legal but I’ve never had an uber or taxi say no. And if you are mindful I’m sure it’ll be fine. Don’t let the kid flop around the car, put your seatbelt on, hold him, etc
Correct. They are safer facing back. But it seemed that op is trying to balance safety and convenience.
Urban Kanga. It’s light and (relatively) small enough that we even travel with it overseas.
