I worked in the boston office - corporate. Had a good experience but I hear things are bad now
It depends on practice/groups and locations. I worked at NY corporate. Don’t recommend. There are tons of complaints about NY and BOS corporate on Fishbowl. I must admit 95% are true and I personally witnessed or experienced. If you are in litigation, IP, and others, I think it’s a pretty good option. Even though it’s not market level pay but WLB is good.
Everything A11 said is on point. Corporate management in the past two years became so toxic. Favoritism firm wide is a deep root issue but too late to solve. At NY office, either you join small clubs so you can get work or you can decide to standalone and eventually get pushed out. From associates to staff, bad people get rewarded, good people get punished. I saw new hires, both associates and staff in corp team, tried to do right thing but got shot down by management. I simply don’t understand how could a law firm functioning this way.

Avoid the NY and Boston corporate groups. I interviewed with them and so many glaring red flags.
Like what?
IP litigation work is inconsistent and not that sophisticated. Fed Circuit cases get handed off to other firms. They do a lot of ITC for NPEs.
If you are a POC, they have a great internal affinity group but their HR (legal personnel) are just incompetent.
A lot of groups as a whole do not make their hours.
Been here for 4 years in M&A and it’s been a lot better than my prior AmLaw 50 firm. Market pay and bonuses now too.

Boston litigation is great in my experience over the last several years. Market compensation and 2000 hr bonus eligibility.
