People do this all the time. You should do what brings you joy and is feasible. Before stopping law entirely maybe see if in-house counsel is a better fit. Gl!

Agree with this. There are soooo many more sane and humane places to work than biglaw. I would start by taking leave then using that time to look for something more sustainable in house.
I did by working as a contract attorney for several years. This allowed me to do substantive work on my terms and with no resume gap. I’m now back in a firm (mid law) working full time. I’m not where I would have been by now seniority-wise, and I do occasionally have some feelings about that, but it’s been worth it for me. I just try to stay focused on running my own race.
The other thing to consider is re-entry. It is obviously do-able, but not necessarily super easy. I think if I had been intent on returning to big law, it might have been a little tougher.
