Does ADHD have a big impact on your memory? It feels like if I don't have constant reminders set or leave notes for myself I can forget ANYTHING even if it's really important to me. I think it's making my partner feel like I don't remember the things they say or don't care to listen. What can I do?? Not on medication but if it helps with this I'd take it.

Absolutely. ADHD is really an executive functioning deficiency, and working memory is a big part of that. Meds can help.

What kind of meds if you don't mind me asking?

Have you thought about building your executive function skills? Memory deficits can often be addressed by creating new habits/systems to capture important information. Coming at it from an EF perspective might be helpful because I wonder if it's all memory related or if it's also focus related.

Like, are you fully processing what your boyfriend tells you and just not remembering it? Or are you only half-listening when he talks because you're distracted in the moment? It's different for everyone!

Yep! Also, we forget what someone is saying because we weren’t paying attention. And, what do we pay attention to? Things that interest us! Whatever your partner is saying might be important but your brain might be prioritizing something else at that moment and as a result, your partner won’t have your full attention and you won’t remember what they said.

Ask your partner to keep conversation concise so as not to overwhelm your working memory or find a time where the two of you can discuss w/o distractions.

Oh man. I struggle with it every single day pre-medication. I always say that alarms are my new best friend since I got diagnosed. They help me a lot more than I realize. Have you had any experience with adhd meds before?

Same here. I tried meds but hated the way I felt on them. Ended up going the more natural route. I've followed most of these tips and have had pretty good results. Meds cna definitely help, but you might need to go through the process of finding the right combination with your doctor first to find what works best for you. I decided that staying unmedicated works best for me, but I also use white boards and sticky notes everyday to keep track of things.

Can’t help wonder how the world is going as if everything is normal while I feel like unravelling every other week. People behave as if covid is 2 days game while I feel sick even after a week. Has anyone weaned off of their adhd meds after a few years? Why? And what was your experience? I’ve been diagnosed but hesitant to start meds because of no end date. I had been on anti depressants and anxiety meds for years and worked hard in therapy to address my issues. Finally weaned off (over a decade on meds) but not sure if this is possible with ADHD.

I felt like a walking zombie during thanksgiving, barely eating and barely talking. My family is small and I told them ahead of time my relationship ended. I focused on my niece and nephews, cried when I wanted to and slept from 8pm-noon for the last 5 days. Showered once or twice. That’s the best I could do and that’s OK right now. I’m back in my apartment, just trying to take it one day at a time, and not re read his texts too much. My birthday is Thursday 🙄

Hi fishes, I've joined Accenture in Nov 21, Till March end I've worked for one project and for june cycle i have received the vpay. Now from June I've been into another project which lasted on Nov 1st week. I haven't received any update on my rewards communication. I've asked my current supervisor but he told me check with the first project supervisor. There's no update from any one of them. I dont have project now. Is that mean I've been put in PIP plan? I am trying to get an ADHD diagnosis, as my primary care and myself both think I could have it (runs in the fam). How many of y’all got diagnosed by a psychiatrist? Or did you have to do the extensive 4ish hour testing?

Whew this group is a relief to find. No one at my job knows I have ADHD, and I only have one other friend with it. I manage a team of people and the stress of checking, double checking, and triple-checking everything to make sure I'm not forgetting anything or behind on anything is insane. Just started medication - adderal helped but if I didn’t take it for a day the withdrawal was UNBEARABLE. On vyvanse now.. tbh feels like my brain fog started when I started meds?

I don't know for sure that this is an ADHD thing but does anyone else get really irritated by small things or have trouble regulating their emotions?
