How do you all think remote working is influencing gender dynamics in your teams? I wonder if/how relying on virtual comms with no in-person interactions will help or hurt things.
I've been working late most nights this week. In the office all week despite the WFH policy. Partner has seen me all day. I'm heading out at 5pm to pick my kid up from daycare since my husband has been doing it for me all week. And the partner says we need to catch up before the weekend. Dude. I told you I had to leave at 5pm today. I had another $75 added to my daycare bill this month for being late at pick ups. Don't look annoyed that you didn't come talk to me. I can call you from the car.
Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐
I currently WFH. However I expect that we will return to the office by summer or fall. I live 1.5 miles away from work, but I don’t have a car. I want to avoid buying a car if possible. What are the best ways to get to work. I live in the city so biking is a little too dangerous for me. Any ideas?
I know everyone will just tell me to calm down but I started a month ago and am on the bench. Feels like the people I started with were picked up. Do all the work given to me, pass my tests, follow up with people to look to get on an engagement. I feel like Im doing fine but WFH I feel very lost and alone as to what I’m supposed to be doing. Doesn’t help that a lot of people are in the south and offline with the snow. Any guidance as to what a path forward should be to learn to relax?
Brainstorming on ways to increase connectivity among teams despite the 100% remote environment we find ourselves in at the moment (virtual HH seem to be getting old). Any ideas and/or things you have implemented at your company?
How much stipend Deloitte gives for work from home setup? I belive laptop will be sent. How about extra monitors, keyboard, headset etc.? I never used windows. Can I request Mac instead of windows? Can I order work table, chair etc? New experience hire, if that matters
Honestly want to know if I am being unreasonable. My husband and I have worked f rom home since the start of the pandemic. Two kids 100% remote until two weeks ago when school started back up. I had to stop my work at 12:30pm every week day to make lunch for the kids and also made some for my husband to took it to his office nook. I typically don’t have time to stop and eat myself since I’m down at minimum those 30 minutes and I work in a bedroom so the smell of food in there is not desired…
For those who do not wish to submit to compulsory vaccination and weekly testing, when do you plan on having that tough conversation with your partner? As RSM just announced it will comply with the Presidents order, do we wait or do we have the conversation now?
How are most teachers plan on giving assessments to students who are remote learners? My school is everyday half-day for students (guardians) who chose to be in school. All other students are remote learners every day. That means I had classes with students who are physically there as student to are there through Google meets. I'm just trying to see what other teachers are doing to balance the two types of learners and how give fair assessments.....
Best remote companies to work for right now?
How many of you are fully remote? How reasonable is it to request remote work? I’d like to be with a family member in a different city for a few months, is this a reasonable request?

2 years out of undergrad and planning to apply next year. Mostly just venting but ugh how do I get LORs!!
Moving to NYC next year, and my SO is based in Seattle. He is very keen to spend more time with me in NYC, even suggesting living there while remote working is still a thing. I’m a little hesitant bc we’ve only been dating for 2-3 months and it would feel like moving in tgt. Also not sure if i should be looking for a studio or 1br for more space but at a much higher price tag that i have to pay for. Any thoughts?

Advice on how to identify open roles that are primarily remote/WFH but willing to travel when it’s safe? When I search on company sites, LinkedIn, etc. the roles are usually tied to a specific city, but there’s got to be more out there considering pre-Covid travel and now WFH. TIA!

Thoughts on EU ruling on Uber being a taxi firm > US impact? Sounds legit. Don't care much for their corporate culture, but care less for the high prices and poor service of regulated taxi firms
I've been taking the silver line shuttle to Boston south station instead of an uber to save the client money, but I almost just got trampled and a suitcase fell on me. Never again 😰🙅🏻
Anyone else here have major breastfeeding challenges? Baby isn’t patching correctly and losing weight so I’m pumping and using formula to supplement. Working with lacation consultant but still
Has anyone ever shit their pants at work or on the way to/from work? I’ll go first... Was on my way to my buddy’s place for post-work dranks when I got the sudden urge to poo. Stuck in rush hour traffic I started sweating. Fast food places were not allowing people inside (only drive thru during peak covid) so I drove around looking for bush to shit in. Found a house with no lights on and nice bushes out front and pulled over. (Cont’d in comments)
Anyone been through the in person interview at Amazon. 3 technical and 2 behavioral. Should I be worried about the technical portions being more difficult then ones on the phone.

This is not consulting directly, but curious if your state is checking if you qualify for the vaccine when you show up for an appt? I’m hearing just about anyone can show up and get it because my state just asks for ID and Med Insurance card - that’s it.
