Anyone else have crazy WLB? Yesterday I got to work for 8:20am, ran 2mi at the office gym, went up to my office for 9am, had meetings until 11am, did some work, ate office catered lunch at 11:40am, walked next door to the church for 30 minute mass, then went for a walk until 1pm, then meetings until 3pm, substantive work til 4pm, took a call from the road, home by 4:30pm, responded to some emails until 5, then rest of the day with my family, bed by 9. I make $300k/yr.

You even have time in your schedule to find time to humble brag! 👍

WLB is what you make of it. I’ve worked big law for 10+ years, never billed a second on Sunday, hike hundreds of miles a year, and spend time with my kid every morning. Sometimes I’m up late, other times I’m in bed at 10. The extra money is worth it to me, and I’ll save a gig like yours when I’m 45-50.

I would fire you if you worked for my firm.

Lol that’s why I don’t work for firms anymore - I was doing 12+ hour days at my last firm and had enough and went in house.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?
