You even have time in your schedule to find time to humble brag! 👍
WLB is what you make of it. I’ve worked big law for 10+ years, never billed a second on Sunday, hike hundreds of miles a year, and spend time with my kid every morning. Sometimes I’m up late, other times I’m in bed at 10. The extra money is worth it to me, and I’ll save a gig like yours when I’m 45-50.
I’ve got multiple young kids so for me, now is the time to prioritize family. I won’t get these years back.
You’re making great money, exercising sleeping spending time with your family and being spiritual Congratulations
I have W. No L and no B.
Same. The cleaning guy always asks why I’m still there. Too many 12-14 hour days for what I get paid
I’d kill for this.
watch out for layoffs - everyone in tech used to boast about their pay and wlb before AI laid them off
This sounds like a 6 hour billable day max. How can you make hours with this schedule?
Not a chance you get 6 hours out of that lol
I wouldn’t call it a crazy WLB, I would call it NICE!! To me that WLB, shows what you can accomplish with hard work to get to where you’re at in your career.
Too bad the secretaries, don’t get that WLB. Good for you.
I’m in-house and would sometimes get unscheduled calls from an outside partner on a case. It all could have been an email. Not sure why our industry has these types of

Yes, also a specialized and niche role. I’ve been at a few different firms, PT, but have generally felt like I can’t believe how lucky I am.
Sounds like bankruptcy litigation
I really hope this is more common than I think but something tells me you have a unicorn job
Your modesty is just amazing. NOT

I think it’s good to spread the news about gigs that are out there. There’s a ton of toxic rhetoric about this field out there, but there are also some amazing gigs
having too much free time means your role is redundant and will soon be eliminated or offshored
famous last words. agentic ai and eventually AGI will surpass human capabilities in white collar work
Troll post, guys

Nope. Legit. Currently WFH reviewing contracts and marketing materials with two of my kids sitting next to me with Halloweentown on the TV - their mom took our third with her to Target.
yeah over $300k here but no law school no degrees just a senior engineer at walmart, i do maybe 8 hours of work per week. i used to be overemployed and was earning about $450-$500k for a while. pretty light schedule those days too.
Yep.
I took my kid to school. Swung by Starbucks headed home and logged in at 9:30. Had meetings until 10:30. Met with my realtor. Had lunch. Worked until 2. Picked up my kid from school. Took him to McD. Headed home. Finished work from 4-5. Also making $300s. Not all lawyers hate life.
Nice work if you can get it! Wait til' the kiddos go to college! Med school alone is about $100 large. Count yourself lucky (for now).
Practice area?

I provide niche regulatory and transactional advice in a heavily regulated industry, including reviewing/revising contracts, providing guidance on the production and use of certain materials used by the business, and basically serving as the GC for certain distinct business units.
Either you're delusional or I am, and I am not giving it any more than a 50/50 chance. I pull at least one all-nighter per month, and I genuinely re-read the post to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding you when I read the following three details: ran 2 miles, church/walk, and "with my family". Does crazy mean crazy awesome or crazy bad? Because I've been applying for jobs to try and find your work life balance from what mine is.
I understand your perspective but I consider myself lucky. When I was in private practice doing M&A I left for work before my kids woke up and got home after they were asleep. I had maybe an hour with my wife in the evening before logging back into work to keep billing. Taking calls at 11pm with the partners was a common occurrence.
I’ll take seeing my sons off to school with a headphone in any day of the week compared to what I used to have to do and what I used to miss out on. I can’t be perfect all of the time but making $300k/yr at 31 and being able to log off at 5pm most days, no weekends, and tons of real PTO is basically unmatched, even if I have to juggle things during the day sometimes.
I have an earlier start than you, but this is similar to my current schedule (1500 annual billable requirement). Former big law, now family law. I had to start all over so salary is not quite there yet, but should be able to make up in 3-5 years. By the way, kudos on setting aside time for QT during the work day. I’m still working on that, but feel inspired to prioritize.
I have great WLB too but make like half that 😬
This sounds amazing lol if only!
Sounds like you got the good life, so why complain?
Who’s complaining?
