Have my closing interview with Accenture next week. So far the Director and MD I have met with have both liked me and the recruiter has said that they have both given me a thumbs up and that the upcoming closing interview with the MD is just a conversation. From my research I’ve also read that it’s just a sanity check to make sure I’m not a nutcase. Of course anything can happen, but I’m expecting an offer. (Cont)

Try to take a trip to that office asap and lay the foundation with the local partners as well. You will want their support.
Why do you want to move? Having a reason that isnt "i want to work at the bigger office" will help

Then you should lead with the family angle and it should be fine. Just make sure you think through how you’re going to get work going forward.
I did this but transferring from a main office to a satellite! You’ll need the buy-in of both the partners in your current office and the partners in your new office, so it would be good to make a trip to the new office and discreetly meet with the partners there. In terms of timing, I made the request to my PG head, got all approvals a month later, and moved 1.5 months after that. My PG head drove the process for me and did all the work to get the necessary approvals.
Thank you! That’s really helpful, especially the timing. My PG leader is in my current office and I work a ton with him, so fingers crossed that he likes me enough to drive the process. I started applying a couple weeks ago and have landed several interviews already, so I think I have a decent shot at landing elsewhere if not. I originally wanted to have an offer in hand before raising it with my current firm, but it sounds like timing wise it just wouldn’t line up where I’d get an answer from current firm before an offer with a new firm expired.

Do you only work with the attorneys in your office? Would they be ok with you working from a different office?
I work with attorneys outside of my office too. Not sure how the attorneys in my office would feel about it.
Agreed with the advice to discreetly make contact with the target office.
If there are other firms in the new area, you could also try to put out some feelers to get a sense of the market and gauge interest. Not with the idea of getting an offer for leverage, but more to give yourself the feeling of having some control over the situation and the sense that things will work out.
