Anyone ever bought or owned property in Europe? I’m looking at southern Europe specifically. I found a place, it’s in budget, but just barely. I’m American so not sure if I have any financing options (was originally thinking all cash but now might explore what is out there). Ant advice is helpful! This isn’t like an impulse rich person buy, I have some personal connections out there just none that know how to help. Thanks!!

My parents looked for a little bit in France but ended up buying another home in the US for a few reasons: these homes seem like a great deal but there’s a catch, the location was not super desirable, it’s not like it was close to Paris, Nice, etc. it was in a small village. There were actually a lot of requirements that were needed at the time of purchase. Not sure if this varies country to country. But there was something to the effect of all renovations needed to be proposed with the offer/paid for, etc. etc. it ended up being something they wouldn’t have a time commitment for today nor did they think the location would actually be worth it. (I know how crazy that sounds when talking about having a home in Europe)

But if you have connections out there, maybe none of this applies to you.
