If this is a big landlord sure. But if this is normal person just renting out their old condo and is giving you reasonable notice, you’re just being annoying

Generally speaking, I don’t think you do. IL has strong tenant protection laws and your landlord cannot arbitrarily evict you if you have a valid lease, pay the rent on time, and have no rental violations. Nothing is black and white tho. I know there’s a rental rights hotline which provides free initial consultation. May wanna look into that before spending on an attorney
They’re selling to a large company who wants to double rents, I suspect he is getting some incentive if they have empty units to be able to jack up rents. But my least goes through 2026 so I’d like to stay at my current rate.
