Anyone have advice on negotiating their severance package? I’m a senior associate. My package is work 75% until October 1 then severance/website time for 3 months until December 31. I want to try and get an extra month as hiring activity picks up in January. Any success negotiating extra severance time? How did you do it?

401(k) gurus - If I switched jobs in 2020, does the $19.5k pretax 401(k) contribution limit apply to each plan or is it across plans? Also, does it matter if my spouse (joint filing) is self employed and bootstrapping and is not enrolled in a 401(k) plan?

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).
