Should I go there so I can just coast for 6-9 months then get laid off for the severance?

likefunnysmart

You might be able to call that a good win....

funnylike

Again?

like

Yes it did. No layoffs happening now. Stop spreading rumors. It’s not good for anyone.

likefunny

Is it a day ending in Y?

likefunny

Evergreen layoffs at Goodwin I thought. And fast hiring.

likefunny

I’m a Goodwin associate and I wish I would get laid off tbh this place is hell on earth

likefunny

Sucks sorry to hear this. I hope things get better for you, A9.

OP - do you want to share what exactly you have heard, if anything? Or are you just here to perpetuate rumors?

likefunny

Yes, I’m sure. I work there. Besides the fact that I would know based on my daily interactions, there have been several statements and assurances that layoffs are over. Some I think publicly but I’ll let you Google that.

I think the better question is, is there any reason to think layoffs are currently happening aside from a bunch of yahoos spreading baseless rumors? No one here has given any reason to think so.

likefunny

A2, you wouldn't know if your colleagues are being stealthed or leaving. They may have to sign confidentiality agreements. Saying that layoffs ended is something you're not qualified to say because you wouldn't know if it's true.

like

No partner voluntarily puts “attorney” as their title. 🙄

like

That’s literally their default. Let us know when they’re not laying people off - that would be a surprise.

like

I’m not saying Goodwin is the best place to work just stating facts that they are not laying people off and that you should get a life. That’s not drinking koolaid.

A2 - can you stop responding to every single comment? Does recruiting pay you to scour the Internet defending the little good will GW has left with students/laterals?

like

Haha - nice attempt at gaslighting. It seems my comments struck home. Please be well.

like

It’s definitely happening. Confirmed.

like

???

There are no layoffs happening - anything you hear to the contrary is simply not true. The firm is extremely busy. Don’t listen all the Goodwin hate on this site. It’s just bitter, cynical people being bitter and cynical.

funny

there be no it

again holy sh

100% false. Not happening.

funny

That's weird, since I was getting headhunted for a patent lit position at goidwin. But certainly possible they're still doing layoffs.

@A2 are you the managing partner at Goodwin?

Still happening?!

Hey Friends! Looking for advice!

My wife is a Chartered Accountant with 7+ years of experience as credit manager, underwriting loans with some leading banks in India. She just got her EAD and is looking for jobs, open to switch profiles as well. Do you think she would fit in for any role here in Seattle, WA? She has been a star performer and promoted twice in the last 3 years. One problem is companies look for US experience which she does not have, we just moved here early this year.

Hi Fishes,
I cleared LTI all rounds and in HR discussion we came on mutual agreement for 16lpa .I have 7 years of experience and they gave me Specialist - Data Engineering(P3) role. And we agreed I will join with after 60 as I had to serve 60 days notice period. I was waiting for offer letter and when I received the offer letter I was shocked to see that CTC mentioned was 14LPA and joining date was only 15days from now ,which is way early.

Think it is funny how recruiters seem to think the vague description "national market paying firm in X city" is at all enticing to one already at a national market paying firm in X city. It's super frustrating to be "time poor".

That's seemingly just the nature of working in Biglaw.

But every day you have the option to buy back your time.

How do you buy back time?

It's simple—by saving and investing.

And you don't need to be uber wealthy to regain control of your time.

Consider this…

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?)
