Anyone live at home right after college (while consulting)? Curious as to reasons why/if you feel it was a good idea

Yes. I'm traveling the majority of the week anyway, and I've saved a lot of money on rent. Student loans are no longer an issue and I have a lot more take home pay than any of my peers

Did it for two years because I was traveling and didn't even come back on most weekends. Avoid rent, max out that 401k, and pay off student loans!

I just graduated 6/16 and I live at home with my parents. I LOVE it. My parents are really cool and let me do as I please but I also can pay off my student loans, mac out my 401K and get some savings in the bank. I couldn't justify paying rent for only being home for 3 nights when I like 20 minutes from my office. That being said- I don't plan on doing this forever but a year or two after college is a great self investment imho

I did it for a year and bought a 2 bedroom condo in Chicago, great idea

Effect on your social life is hard to say because it's so dependent on your behavior and your parents. Mine didn't intrude into my social life at all and they certainly didn't care how late I came home or how drunk I was but I also never brought anyone home from a bar. If I was going to stay out all night/ stay at someone else's place and come home the next morning, I would shoot a text just letting them know so they didn't wake up worried but I also do that with my apartment-mate now.

I've been at home for one year because I expected to be traveling more. With the regional model you won't be traveling as much so make sure you don't mind being at home. I had no loans from college and have saved about 25k towards me house. I also have an emergency savings account at about 2 months salary (want to get to 3) and a travel account with 5k and I took a 10 day Europe trip earlier this year that must've cost 2000 after it was all said and done. I definitely recommend doing it and I'm happy to talk offline about my savings plan!

Did it for 6 months- saved a lot of money, and used it to find better/cheaper apartment during least popular rental season

What level and/or age are you? How long do you think you'll stay? Do your parents make you pay anything?

I'm maxing out 401k (you mean the match amount, right? Or the IRS limit?) and don't have loans, but I want to live at home to start saving for a house, and so I can invest, etc. Worried a little bit about the social effect

Yeah, A2, that would be awesome! Do you have a burner?

What are your thoughts on pay discrepancies based on family structure? Ex. Two people do the same job but one is paid more or given a larger bonus “because they have kids and you live alone” or “because their family is struggling”. Is that an ethical factor if both employees do the same job at the same pace, quality, etc?

It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?
