So much that I can’t believe it’s still been going up.

I do find it weird that just about every chart looks the same, and numbers just can't keep going up forever. Still, I'm not convinced there's a major crash coming. I'd be curious to hear someone make that case. I could see it happening if there was some shocking external event, but I think the bull run we've been seeing will just have some drawdowns instead of one big event.

I agree… household balance sheets are holding up… the one scary tid-bit is that ~40% of all household wealth is from equity participation in whatever form that might be…

~30% of the S&P is comprised of 10 names… 60%+ of the NASDAQ is comprised of the same 10’names… that’s kind of heavily tilted… so if there’s some seismic shock to the AI trade, we could see significant drawdowns, but it may be a V shaped recovery, because most households wealth would see paper losses, and that likely won’t translate to job losses… plus if the market turns, it may force the Fed to cut rates further… that’s trillions of dollars that could flow into equities, historically…

Could be wrong… that’s a little bit of my firms research and my own opinion…

I have been waiting on it to be honest. The economy seems to be going downhill quickl. It is possible it may not happen though, stranger things have happened

Short answer - no.
Longer answer - it depends on if AI is as transformative for businesses as the market is currently pricing it. If AI flops, the market will see a decline, but I wouldn't necessarily put it in "epic crash" territory. Even if AI works out how everyone is expecting, there will likely only be nominal growth next year (my guess is 3-4%) as the market is already pricing in AI.

What house plants are NOT toxic to cats? I swear every time I go to buy a new plant and look it up it says “toxic to pets”. I have a dumb cane which I know is toxic but didn’t realize when I bought it so now I just keep it in the laundry room away from my cat when I’m at work but that means no daytime sunlight. Would like suggestions on which plants I can buy that are safe to leave alone with my cat 😸

Any working mothers in here who loves the company they’re working for? I am thinking about switching firms and need some honest thoughts on companies that doesn’t only say, but actually practice flexibility for work life balance and offers good $$$.

I am a high performer at my current firm but they started questioning working arrangements of folks based on the new members who are huge in-office folks, fast turnover within the team, etc. This wasn’t an issue when I first joined.

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.

I'm interviewing with KKR for a Principal role in their real estate group. All online salary resources are all in alignment with a total comp of $200k+. I'm assuming based on the average salary reported across these portals for principal that those figures apply to the RE group as well. Anyone have any direct knowledge or can speak to that group's comp?

Does anyone know if principals are in cubicles or doe they get an office?
