Where are you located? I literally googled “therapists for lawyers” and found some near me.
Not really helpful but I am applying for a masters in clinical mental health in 2022 and plan to become a therapist for lawyers after that. Maybe I can help you in the future!
Rising Star
I tried a couple of therapists before I found one I liked. I ended up looking for someone with a PhD and more specialized training/experience with CBT. I also specifically searched for someone who had been practicing for awhile.
I have! My therapist (in NYC) isn't specifically for lawyers, but she often testifies as an expert witness in trials so she's very aware of the legal scene and has worked with the USAO/DAs office/Biglaw so she understands when I'm talking about work. So looking for someone like that might help.
My local bar’s lawyer assistance program referred me to ones that treat lawyers, even provided ones that take my insurance.
Ask around. Where I live there seems to be an odd trend of therapists being with lawyers. In my friend/work group there are three lawyers coupled up with therapists, including me and my partner.
You might have more luck finding a therapist with a background in cross-cultural psychology. Even if they don’t have specific experience with the legal field they’ll still understand how to address your needs through that work culture lens. My friend is a therapist in Seattle with a lot of clients who work at Amazon or in tech, has had lawyer clients in the past, and uses this approach. She says it works really well for people in high-stress professions.
