Yes, Manhattan, High Jump, AWS, and others support in supply chain tech including WMS, Transportation, design, engineering, etc.
+1 on this. I would think it would be tied to a specific product and not product agnostic technology. For e.g they would have a TMS, WMS, WES, AMR that is for certain vendors. And they would need help with those.
Fedex data works has been working closely with Oliver wyman for the past 2 years.
For strategy and opportunity identification - design firms such as whatif, ziba, cspace.
And for tnt acquisition pre legal day 1 and a bit after - Deloitte and a few folks from bcg too, but I believe their engagement started a year or two after legal day 1 and not sure what their role was with integration. Hope this helps!
Thanks A1. Any big 4 or similar tier consulting firms do it?
Accenture has done previous work at UPS.
Deloitte and Accenture have the supply chain and technology capabilities to go into some of these customers but the others will struggle to keep up in supply chain itself.
These companies employees are generally more capable in the domain than B4 consultants, especially when you get into automation, engineering and the sheer scale of their operations. Most of these companies have consulting units themselves.
We actually do projects for all the above, but I wouldn’t call us a consulting firm. We design and implement automation systems for these companies and smaller businesses. I’m curious to know what you find out as well. Check out Miebach consulting.
I know Fortna does stuff like this.
Yes there are strategy projects with them like supply chain optimization
FedEx does a ton with Deloitte.
Pretty much all the big consulting firms work with them. There are also a bunch of boutiques. Is that work you’re trying to get into?
When you say operations though is it production, warehouse management, transportation, etc.
Then what systems are you implementing?
Depending on experience you may be better served at an Accenture or Deloitte or at a firm like Fortna, Tompkins, or a software/engineering firm.

Anybody who calls themselves a 4PL/5PL or offer that kinds of service usually targets primarily logitics providers through tools or consulting services.
