The military has taught me to be more patient and think through my actions before taking any kind of action. This change in my personality has definitely been for the better and has helped me be more successful in and out of the military.
The military changed a lot about my personality for the better. I became much more disciplined and responsible. I also became much more patient and able to handle stress better.
Like you, I learned to control and direct my anger, I learned to direct anger towards my physical training and now after the army, I am a certified boxing trainer.
Sadly I have to say that I learned to respect my elders, I was a boy with behavior problems and authority problems, when I entered the army I learned the hard way to respect superiors and when my parents saw me again they hardly recognized me.
Proud of having learned to control my need for opioids, for 3 years of my life I felt that I was not going anywhere but to die in a short time, my father forced me to be part of the force and I traveled to Afghanistan as Marine, even if it seems crazy, I came back to life today I am another person.
