It’s a very personal decision and everyone has different values. For me, personally, I wouldn’t touch anything that had to do with the Republican Party or any right wing group or PAC no matter how much money or how desperate I was.
I’ve turned down agencies that have gun or ammo as their clients. Even if I’d be working on a different account. I’ve turned down tobacco as well. I had no problem with social media until around 2015 or so. But now I wouldn’t work for Meta, X, or anyone who has actively tried to destroy democracy or at least contributed to it. Obviously I wouldn’t touch Tesla or Space X with a ten foot pole.
I wouldn’t work for big oil either.
I would imagine everyone has come up against something like that. I've seen jobs posted for companies I wouldn't work for, so I just ignored them. Of course, you get into a problem where you have to decide just how dedicated you're going to be to your principles. I've done work with clients who engaged in business practices I don't agree with. And when you investigate any business you'll likely find some dark episodes. It's like the old saying, behind every great fortune is a crime.
Probably Big Pharma. I’d rather work for Big Tobacco, and that’s saying a lot. Not a fan of drinking, but have worked in several alcohol accounts and that was fine. Every corporation is against my values for the most part, but I knew what advertising was when I went into it so no regerts.
What a dork.
SeaWorld would be a hard no for me as well for the same reasons. I also have no interest in doing anything medical related. I worked for a medical device company early in my career, and it was mind-numbingly boring. I wouldn't do it again for any amount of money.

The list of industries I wouldn't work for is much longer than the list of industries I will work for. They way I see it....advertising is powerful. It influences human behavior. I want to leave this world knowing I made it a little better, not worse. I couldn't stomach the thought of helping companies succeed that do harm. Fast fashion, social media, tobacco, fishing, pharma, etc
I don’t think I’d work at SeaWorld either, but I also avoid things like the pharmaceutical industry. I was once offered a job at Monsanto but I just couldn’t work for such an evil corporation so I took a much lower paying job so right now I have my ideas, but we’ll see someday I might be more money driven
It’s advertising. Pick your poison.
