Are tourist traps always bad, or can they be worth it? I used to avoid anything labeled a "tourist trap," but then I visited the Eiffel Tower and realized why some places are famous—they’re iconic for a reason. On the flip side, I once paid $30 to see a "hidden gem" waterfall in Costa Rica that was crowded, muddy, and honestly underwhelming. I’ve started thinking there’s a difference between a true tourist trap (overpriced, underwhelming) and must-see landmarks that might be crowded but still worth it.

They can be worth it. Every time I'm in Boston I visit the Union Oyster House, which is billed as the oldest restaurant in the country. It's an absolute tourist trap in a tourist neighborhood, but it's worth it and the food is quite good!

I think it depends on what you're looking for in your travel experience. There are a lot of major tourist traps like Times Square, that I have visited once and likely never will again. For smaller things like your waterfall, I'd read reviews first before making a decision.

I can see short term changes but the way Amex has been aggressively marketing Platinum card, we just will have overcrowding of primary card holders 🤷🏻‍♂️

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!
