There has to be a seller to be a buyer but there doesn’t have to be a buyer to be a seller
Youve kinda got it backwards. A seller doesn’t necessarily use a sell side advisor. And sometimes there are 10 bidders for one seller in a competitive process. There tends to be a lot more buy side work
Shouldn't there be both buy and sell sides for a transaction to happen?
I would imagine a lot of companies would be looking at disposing of non-core assets if market conditions continue to worsen.
K1’s got it right. For a given sell-side transaction there would be multiple buyers (both financial and corporate) looking at it, many of whom will use advisors. There are always more buy-side than sell-side deals.
