LA native. Left for 9 years and lived in SF and NY. Came back for family and friends, weather (never learned to deal with snow and get depressed without sunshine), vibes/pace of life, tacos. I agree that LA is a little cheaper too, which helps. Bought a little house and never been happier.
Moved here from Boston, the weather was actually depressing and social scene even worse. I’ve unlocked a much better version of myself here
I don’t think the word is transplant
Nah it is the word. Transplant it is.
Local - weather, vibes, culture, Mexican food.
C1 - it is a melting pot. You are able experience some of the most authentic Asian cooking and culture, drive 15 minutes and experience Latino/Chicano culture. From its native Tongva history to rancho/agriculture history to LA riots. Honestly, LA’s not a perfect city but no one is rushing to beat the clock of time. There is a place for everyone.
I’m from NY and always wanted to live in California. I preferred SF but LA is cheaper. Never moving back because of pacing, weather, and community.
I grew up in PNW, came here after grad school for work and stayed (so far)
I am from Mexico. I moved to Miami in 2021 to study a master's and portfolio program, and a job offer brought me to LA. For the first months, the job was what kept me here, but now, after exploring a little more and meeting very cool, interesting people, I can see myself living here for a few more years. Let's see what happens. Haha, the cultural shock has been the most difficult.
