I’ll bite. To preface: I’m a woman and overall have no real, strong preference between either gender. It’s not a barrier for me when looking to move agencies or teams. Worked at 5 agencies in 12 years so do have quite a bit of exposure to a variety of CDs.
Women can be a bit more detail-oriented and I find they can get more hung up on little stuff. Compared to men then can unfortunately feel more micro-managey. I find them to be a more strategic and prepared during client presentations.. less “on the fly” and less likely to say things like “we’ll take this away and get back to you” if clients have questions. They tend to make decisions faster and often have clearer more actionable feedback. They run a tighter ship and tend to ensure decks are prepared and polished well ahead of client presentations. Less likely to scramble around last min.
Men are looser. In their feedback, in their presentation style, how they mange their juniors. They unfortunately can tend to give “better” or bolder direction in my experience, and push the work or help craft that extra 10-20%. It’s not always clear or well-articulated though, and can take a bit of spin or guesswork to get there. I find men can be a bit more difficult to get a hold of if/when things are busy while women have felt a bit more reliable and feel like they intentionally set time aside in their day to get back to their teams in a timely manner. Their vibe is a bit more relaxed and they can feel more like your buddy than your boss. Their egos can be HUGE though.. in a bad way.
Painting with broad stokes here but this is the general gist of each IME. Could absolutely be different for others.
You are trying to make my comment about “their professionalism and competence”. Should I post the screenshot? My comment responded to your line about women CDs being “relaxed”. It’s about their temperament, not their “professionalism and competence.”
Women are way better as leaders, it’s been proven over and over again (see the Pink Chip campaign for instance) so no need to escalate this post any further

Keep in mind only 12-15% of creative directors are female. It used to be 3% (https://ourdecadeofdifference.com) and not so long ago it was 0%.
Women are scrutinized so much more. Men might be cancelled if they sexually assault several people and those people speak out. Women are cancelled just for being a btch. But when men act like that they are seen as confident, creative bosses.
Unfortunately women can tend to engage in reputation destruction rather than giving clear feedback at times. Weak men will allow that to happen and let people go when they are scapegoated. Women also can be so agreeable they'll let their team be trampled on and view pushing back as impolite rather than setting healthy sustainable boundaries. Women can have excellent taste, vision and imagination though. I have been blessed to work with great ones along the way.

Women have more emotional intelligence and are fundamentally better multitaskers. Both of these traits are important as a CD. They are also more resilient than men and less entitled. I have learned more from female creative directors in my career than male. The same goes for people in my life.
No they just haven't given the answers you were hoping to see. Keep digging.
D-tier engagement bait. Are we on ihaveanidea.org ?
That’s what I think of your useless “contribution”
Men and women both have strengths and flaws. I think we tend to overlook the male ego part and how much this is a problem, and I say this as a guy. But yeah shitty people are shityy people , go where there are less of them present.
As the OP (male), I’m just sharing my experience working for both female and male bosses.
Working for female bosses as a male
PROS:
- In my experience, I’ve found that they are more nurturing than male bosses, and appreciating their employees seems to come more naturally.
- In my experience, I’ve found that they care about detail a lot more than male bosses.
CONS:
- In my experience, I’ve found that they tend to gossip, overreact to things, and create drama a lot more than male bosses.
- In my experience, I’ve found that they engage in psychological warfare and backstabbing/betrayal a lot more than male bosses.
- In my experience, I’ve found that they expect emotional reciprocation a lot more than male bosses.
Working for male bosses as a male

- In my experience, I’ve found that they don’t overthink as much and are more decisive.
