As the financial year ends, I’m curious how others spent the last three days. Were you closing targets, clearing backlogs, planning budgets, or reflecting on lessons learned? Did teamwork increase, pressure rise, or motivation shift? What habits helped you finish strong, and what goals did you set for the new year ahead? Share your experience. Any tips for staying balanced, focused, positive, and productive?

End of year for me is just tidying up loose ends and preparing for the start of a new year. Fortunately, it’s easy-going as almost everyone is doing the same.

Call centers are brutal. That’s where I started and it took a while to get out, but it was worth the grind.

I have a lot of things I need to do, but don't necessarily want to do. I've been trying to find a few hours in the day between celebrating with family and enjoying my time off to get some stuff done. I'm excited for the new year, but I definitely feel like I'm limping towards the finish line of this year.

This is the time of year when we all have no idea what day it is. That’s ok

Our fiscal YE is a couple months earlier so I tend to do all the reflecting, recalibrating, etc around then. Calendar YE is just me trying to get away from the office on PTO or trying to do as little work as humanly possible. Pretty relaxed time all around.

What do you mean? Most companies have a different fiscal and calendar YE. It works exactly the way I wrote it 😆. Almost everyone is either trying to get off time or working the bare minimum.

So I’m call center. Monday and Tuesday call volume was insane.

Wednesday we were chilling. Thursday obviously were closed but yesterday oh my god people would not stop calling.

January is very busy for us so usually I prep as much as I can and roll forward any worksheets in December so it can save me more time in January.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

During my interview process I clearly stated my salary expectations of 95k-105k. They came back with an offer at 80k. Is it even possible for us to come closer to a better agreement with them being so low? All other aspects of the job are in line with what I'm looking for, so I really want to make this work.

Additional Posts in Salaries in Finance

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.
