Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??
Guys, a query from me - got an offer from a reputed renewable industry company so wanted to know if I'll be going downhill or uphill in my career. Note: Position is in Europe, naturally way better money than India, and its an ex client wanting me to join them. He is keen to get me in.

60-70 hours normally does not sound okay at all. You need to set boundaries and learn to delegate. Thats the only way to survive in this business. May Allah swt make it easy for you. Ameen
DDs are 80-100, average consultant is 60-80
Waluikum Assalam! I’m not sure at what level you’re at, but assuming you’re at the BA/ASC level, I would bring it up with your EM. They’re pretty understanding and willing to accommodate odd hours that you’ll need for suhoor, iftar and taraweeh. It’s understood that work performance will vary during the day especially when fasting - just make sure you’re clear with the EM/ED on expectations and what you need to deliver, and when you’ll be delivering your pages/analysis.
P.S. I typically rolled off before Ramadan and tried to pick up knowledge building and LOP work. I found my DGL super supportive so it didn’t hurt during review time. The one time I was on a study, I was just really transparent about my religious obligations and worked out a plan to deliver pages at odd hours.
Thanks for the solid advice! I brought Ramadan up to my em last week and they were supportive. iA I’ll bring it up more formally with the team at check in tomorrow. InshaAllah next year I’ll plan better and shoot to be rolled off before Ramadan since I got staffed pretty recently this time around
Also try to take PTO for the last 10 days of Ramadan so that you can avoid any distractions
Yea. Especially this! Helps make up shortfalls which in start of Ramadan due to this job and allows for a strong finish
PTO last 10 days or else you will likely feel very bad when you’re working at 10pm instead of praying taraweh. In team learnings let everyone know that u will be out for an hour around sunset. Also McK has Take Time which is perfect for Ramadan.
Also agree with GE 1 , blocking PTO during Ramadan will help with being on the beach ~1 week before / after the PTO.
At McK I’ve found people have been reasonable especially if you’re very firm about protecting your time. At the end of the day though it’s a client service business and there’s only so much flexibility they can provide so it’s best to take PTO.
All the best, feel free to PM me if u ever want to bounce ideas!
I do about 60 hours since January, for Ramadan, my days starts around 4.30 or 5am. I eat suhoor have coffee and drink a camel's portion of water then open my email and begin prepping for the day, that's about 7am or so. I drop the kids at school take meetings while driving to office if I'm going in, spend the day in meetings or doing my work, head home and pick the kids on my way or my wife pocks them up. I continue working until maybe 6.30 pm where I start helping prep for iftar. I sit with the kids before they head to bed do some taraweeh, work for an hour or two then hit bed around 10 maybe. Been on it since the beginning of Ramadan. Can do better tho.
