Really looking into expanding my investment horizons — particularly about learning about how to allocate my investment portfolio. Also, always nice to learn about better ways to save and cutback.

Trying to open an account on TreasuryDirect to buy i bonds, and I am required to get an authorized certifying officer to sign a form to complete the process to open an account. Anyone know what that is? I went to my bank and asked, they don’t think they can sign it 🧐

Could someone explain what finance closing process is? I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

Has anyone had success transferring Chase Ultimate Reward points to a friend? I see that only “household” transfers are allowed but don’t know if there’s leeway with the term. I just offered an intern a full time position as an account coordinator with a starting salary of $50k. They have only been an intern for 2 months and have no prior experience. They acted like $50k was a huge slap in the face. Am I crazy for thinking $50k is reasonable for entry level in Toronto? I'm struggling to understand why anyone would use these at all. Significantly caps your upside. If you are uber wealthy, why wouldn't you continue investing in the market? Why pay the crazy fees for these products that are essentially just 90% treasury bonds and 10% levered ETFs and covered calls?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
