Has anyone here tried pregmune?
I’m not sure how this will impact this bowl, but it is worth pointing out the need to assess whether there should be concern for those in this bowl. While we all understand ADHD is something attorneys are completely capable of managing with legal positions, not everyone in the field agrees with that. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_va66ztgmkw

Been through the same, but honestly getting cheated on by my ex just pushed to be more religious because I kinda had nothing to fall back on or even tell my parents. Advice for you start small, don’t need to go 0-100 in a day. If you don’t pray now, try to get in 1 prayer a week - juma then add another. Additionally listen to some Quran for like 10 min a week then get better and read the English translations on YouTube while the person is reciting - search up Noor healing on YouTube. Religion and Islam in my opinion are like working out, you won’t see improvements in 1 day but slowly 1 day after another it’ll all come together
I recommend Yasir Qadhi or Omar Suleiman’s Ramadan series. They help you build an appreciation for Islam and make you feel proud to be Muslim and YQ’s series is specifically targeted to try and engage the Muslim American youth.
I recommend Mufti Menk as well...
I think unfortunately what brought me back was some very devastating personal issues. I think I literally had nowhere else to turn but to God. I ended up finding this youtube video which mentioned 2 duas to pray during hopeless times. And I just started reciting them all day. And doors that shouldnt have opened opened. Like it was miraculous, things would just line up for me to get out of the situation I was in. I think since then I got closer because I know God pulled me out of that situation and nothing really makes much sense anymore pandemic and all except Islam. Its a huge sense of peace and comfort. You gotta find what resonates with you. Start small just focus on 5 daily prayers then expand. I think I grew up with a very fear based relationship with God. My parents would always mention like if you do this or dont you will get punished etc etc. As I found faith in adulthood I have come to realize the other side of the coin, and just how much Allah loves us, and wants what is best for us. Allah is the most merciful and the most forgiving. One of my favorite Hadith is “Walk towards me and I will run towards you.” It fills my heart everytime I think about it. No matter how long you have turned away, if you turn back Allah will forgive you. May Allah bless you and your journey!
Ofcourse! Here is the link https://youtu.be/tZzU2ph8MsI
Someone mentioned this above as well but Omar Suleimans ramadan series was also really amazing!
Salaam bro! The first thing I would say is to make sincere dua and pour your heart out to Allah, when you truly complain to God and ask for his guidance with sincerity, it unlocks something in your heart that I can’t truly describe. As D1 mentioned I would start slowly, trying praying namaz everyday (it may just be 1 or 2). I pray Allah makes it easy for you, you got this! 🙂
I second D1! Start small and draw closer to Allah and you will see incredible changes over time.
Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah Almighty says: Whoever comes with a good deed will have the reward of ten like it and even more. Whoever comes with an evil deed will be recompensed for one evil deed like it or he will be forgiven. Whoever draws close to me by the length of a hand, I will draw close to him by the length of an arm. Whoever draws close to me the by length of an arm, I will draw close to him by the length of a fathom. Whoever comes to me walking, I will come to him running. Whoever meets me with enough sins to fill the earth, not associating any idols with me, I will meet him with as much forgiveness.”

I’ve been in similar situations and Alhamdullilah I’m in a better place, from praying once every week on Juma to praying 4-5 times a day. Allah has guided me indeed and help comes in many ways. For me it was my mother, imam at mosque and some good friends who helped me
Yes doubling on the good companion and friends. I will also add volunteer work at Masjed and showing up for Isha prayer and eventually you may meet a person or two. Islam is a deen of jama meaning a religion practice in congregation- may Allah guide us all to his path
OP. I’m closing in on 30. And was living with 4 other Muslim friends when I was your age. I genuinely think your early 20s are your transformative years from every aspect. And a lot of people go through transformations around this time because they’ve had significant real life experiences and have developed an understanding of the world around them.
What’s key IMO is having the right people around as others mentioned. I can’t stress enough the influence that my friends had on me subconsciously. I only recognize it now as I look back at that phase. Very few people are strong minded enough to not be influenced by those around them. They don’t have to be hafiz Quran and what not. But decent human beings who share the same respect for their faith.
Also, would highly recommend listening to noman ali khan’s interpretations of the quran. I started w surah yusuf during ramzan and it was pretty amazing, answered a lot of questions i had and literally changed my world view quite a bit
Salam
May Allah guide you to the right path
Try to have a good friend (suhba saliha)
That would help you a lot in your struggle
Goosebumps. Subhanallah, JAK for sharing.
Came here to say two things:
1) I hope things get better for you OP, iA
2) Super refreshing to see a moderate, empathetic narrative on this thread vs. the typical, in your face “astagfirullah haraamzzzz” approach
OP and all, Salaam Alaikum first of all.
OP I had a similar struggle. Only Allah knows how we will end up, but on the other hand, we need to try our best.
We invest our years for earning some benefits like money and so on, so why not we invest also our time to read the Quran.
I did personally benefit reading Quran in parallel to perspectives from various disciplines such as philosophy, biology, physics, chemistry, etc. Additionally, I read the Old and New Testament, checked other beliefs such as Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.
If your mother tongue is not the original script’s language, then try to compare various translations, so that you do not fall into a translation failure.
Allah suggests to us in the Quran to use our mind, evaluate things, and come up with our findings. As Allah‘s order and the religion on Allah’s layer have been always Islam according to the Quran, if you evaluate correct, you‘ll end up with a correct outcome. After the resurrection, Allah will judge our actions and way of thinking so that the bad and evil can distinguish. If Allah wished, then we could be all Angels without any will towards evil. Allah‘s wisdom is broader than us, so if you don‘t get something in Quran, check various translations of the Quran, benefit disciplines such as philosophy, etc. It will help you to truly believe that even if there would have been no human ever existed other than you. The starting point is to have a perspective that it‘s a journey between your soul and Allah‘s order.
I did so, I questioned and challenged it. One day I ended up with an inner logic outcome. If we cannot claim that a luxury car exists by chance on its own, instead there is an upper logic and willpower behind its existence such as engineers, designers, manufacturers, etc, then we cannot also claim that humankind exists by chance on its own but instead, there is an upper authority behind its existence such as our creator Allah. Just have a look into our body and see the design on it, how it functions, depreciates, etc.
Observe the nature, see how it is regenerating itself each and every time in a circle and read about the science behind it.
From all different philosophers, you’ll see different arguments are being proposed. Don’t be afraid of their perspectives, read them, and try to understand the Quran’s aspect, if you are not satisfied read more.
I wish you all the best, in case anyone would like to discuss further feel free to DM.
PS: My mother tongue is not English, in case you are confused about anything I post here, please bear with me as I have no bad intention but might be experiencing a language barrier.
Here to help. Let us know if you want to hop on a call or anything. Feels great to think out loud sometimes
What struggles do you have with faith particularly. Here to help.
Take baby steps. Just start by striving to say your 5 daily prayers and Insha Allah things will start to fall into place eventually.
