At a previous job, the team mentioned “market adjustments” but it was never clear who actually got them or how often they happened. It made me wonder whether I should proactively bring up market data myself. Have you ever successfully used market benchmarks to make a case for a raise?

From what I understand, that's just something human resources will periodically do as a sort of internal audit. I'm not really sure there's anything you can do to prompt it to happen, at least I've never had any luck doing that. But it probably wouldn't hurt to check.

You could try but you can also expect a no to any of your questions

I have done it twice, and neither time resulted in a raise. It's still worth trying though IMO. The worst they can say is no.

I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. Does anyone know comp for an L4 Global Account Rep role (base, equity, bonus). I’m asked to give my expected earnings prior to going into my final round. Any advice would help!

Got an offer for Sr. Financial Analyst for 85k & 10% annual bonus. What's a good counteroffer? I told the recruiter 95k-110k when I first interviewed. This position is 100% remote, headquartered in VA. I live in NYC. Have roughly 2 YOE.

Thanks.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!
