At the final interview, what really tips the scale in your favorite over all the other candidates for an in-house litigation role? If you are that final interviewer, what do you look for to say "Yes, this is the one"?

For me it’s likeability, fit with the team, etc. At the final interview stage, the question isn’t ’can this person do the job?’ Rather it’s ’how well do they fit in? Doors this person help build our culture?’ And other variations of that.

P2, honestly, I feel like they ran from me; but it’s clear that the firm was not for me. Something better is on the horizon!

I’m looking for whether they are prepared for the interview by showing that they’ve paid attention in the prior interview, aren’t just reading a list of questions or answers from AI, and have familiarized themselves with the people conducting the final round. If you’re still asking the basics about the firm that you should have asked in round 1 or could find on the website, that tells me what I need to know.

“Does this person suck?”

They don’t need to be my pal or anything like that. I just want to do know that they won’t be any drama

Not really. It’s more of conveying that there won’t be any drama or hassles.

I have a wee crush on one of the partners in my firm and I thought he liked me too, but neither of us did anything about it (which is entirely appropriate). That was all pre-Rona. Now I’m leaving the firm and pursuing another opportunity and staying in the same city. Since he’ll no longer be my boss, is there a way to find out if my feeling was correct? How should I go about this? (Especially given Rona?)

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.
