Monthly is good, it's what I do. Goes out to 50 clients and 300 prospects/contacts. Just a good way to stay in people's minds, for when they're ready to make a move.
I send a monthly newsletter to about 285 email's. About 75 clients and the rest are just people I've met in my travels. Over the last 12 months i've had 27% opened. The email is 4 articles, that are written by the vendor and compliance approved, i still have to submit to compliance but they give me a FINRA letter. In addition, the lead article, is my article, i write it every month. I usually write, about the market, always lead back to following the plan, then i put some personal bullshit in it, about my family, or the Jets or a trip to somewhere interesting. I think its worthwhile, i get my name in front of 185 people every month and the personal BS keeps me connected to clients who read it
I send out a weekly email to my A clients which covers what happened in the market and why. I've been doing this for almost a year and the clients dig it.
A Monthly is the right cadence, minimum, if you're managing $$. But if it doesn't have a personal element like what SF described, then I think it'll be viewed as spam and will eventually, I think, reinforce the popular culture's assumption that "financial services people DGAF."This is a good topic. I hope others will post their thoughts.
Ever had an A client forward it to a B client...?
BoA2 -- what kind of content do you usually incorporate in your monthly newsletters?
It's a company formulated email. Mix of short articles and some market data.
Macro, company level, or things like retirement tips. Different parts hopefully to appeal to different client needs.
I've only gotten two unsubscribes in 6 months, and just got additional assets last month after a client read a certain article that got her interest.
Even for you to send something like a SunTrust equity research report, that might not initially seem relatable to most clients, shows you're thinking of them.
I do the same thing at wells, I just started it last month. I have not received and positive or negative feedback as of yet. I do it because the info in the email is a good read and it gets my name out there besides me making a phone call.
