I just ask at reviews - is there anything that i should be doing more of, or anything that i am doing that doesn't work for you? And what can i do to help you that i am not doing?I ask this of my A clients mostly. Not sure how effective it is, maybe because i am asking clients face to face, maybe because they are all happy, because these are the clients i treat with kid gloves.I've thought about a written survey, but it scares me, I'm afraid of what i might find out.
I send a written survey every year. I send it throughout the year because the answers are somewhat dependent on market conditions. As mentioned above, though, the questions are very leading about referrals and if they have referred someone, and if they did, what would they tell them we do? I get some interesting answers, but mostly it tells me how people perceive my approach.I also ask if they are satisfied with the type and frequency of contact. It gives me accurate feedback, but as the client reads it, they should get positive feelings about me and it makes it clear that referrals is a regular part of my business, which I don't push on people in person.
some clients may not give a straight up or honest response to your face, and the information may not benefit you.Try sending out a survey to all your clients from a site called ZOHO. you can fully customize the questions and orders, and you can see each persons response. You can also set it up so the clients response is annon, maybe they will feel better about it. I asked questions on how to improve my blog...Would you like to see more audio/video presentations? would you recommend my blog to your friends and family? IF you had any financial issues would I be the first person you think about? etc...From that, i realized a lot of people wanted a lot more audio/video presentations and that people reading my blog were split on referring or not referring me to their friends/family.just my $0.02!
In other service businesses proactively asking for feedback is do or die. It helps the client feel empowered (which defrays any unknown frustrations) and can gather some great data/insight which you can use in your business. Generally you want to ask for feedback on specific tasks/interactions. I like the ones you came up with. Also, read up on "net promoter score." This is basically the ratio of those that would recommend your service to those that would not. That score is more relevant to large organization (you probably already know how many of your clients would). But it's still important to ask this because it leads to a few good questions that can lead to referrals... here's how: Make a dynamic survey that runs like this:- Would you recommend our service to a friend? --> why- If yes... Have you recommended our service? When was the last time? - If no (but they like you) then... I focus is on clients like you, you probably know friends and family... etc. Hope this helps
