I’m often stuck in the middle of this as a video editor. I find it helps to think like this: if you look back at a project a year later, was that thing worth falling on your sword over? Does it truly matter to the integrity or is it a small detail that you’re barely going to remember?
It’s then creative teams job to notice things that nobody will notice but the creative team
Most clients and agency leadership already view it as a waste of time.
I do believe in sweating every detail. But it’s up to us to recognize when we’ve reached far enough. We can easily pick up apart stuff to death.
In many cases, the client ruins it already. So there’s only so much you can do at times. Gotta pick your battles when you can.
