Been at my company for a year, everyone on my team is indian but me. I took over a project from a coworker, brought another one that’s been sitting still for years to life. I give updates, progress, and propose improvements and more which never go anywhere. My 1:1 feels like I’m still interviewing and my manager says I’m not proactive though he says he receives good feedback from my coworkers. How can I make my work more visible or deal with a manager who doesn’t seem to notice the effort?

being a manager i would say sit with your manager and ask examples of being proactive, or how others are proactive. you may find what you missing.

Tell me more about the proposed improvements and more that go nowhere. How do they usually fizzle out of lose traction?

Do you feel that your manager is treating you differently because you are not Indian? That might be something you want to talk to HR about.

How to stay up to date as a software architect?
I've migrated from being a software engineer to a software architect role.

I'm looking for ways to stay up to date with architectural trends and patterns so that I can stay well rounded and up to date on current trends and ways to solve problems.

Any suggestions?

Have you got some advice? Is it possible to work for US remotely without visa? What other countries pay well? Is it possible to land a 100k$+ with this kind of experience and working from Italy?

Hi all - just joining and looking for some guidance! I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.
