In mega-cap pharma, would say if you don’t see a path for yourself politically - makes sense to move. Especially before you get LTI piling up
Probably less of an issue at a smaller shop if you make sure you click before you join
Long Term Incentives (e.g., RSUs/option grants and refreshers with vesting periods)
Has your mega cap done more or less deals than peers? It was a slow year for the industry. One benefit of small biotech is that you get to wear multiple hats vs large pharma where you’re probably more of a process / project manager most of the time until deal heats up
YES definitely go to small to mid pharma or biotech for the growth opps.
You will not get the exposure or opportunities working in big pharma as a mid level employee.
Good luck!
No, I don’t think you’ll get a lot of “experience” in a big pharma role outside of exactly what you’re expected to do in your swim lane. I’d go for the smaller biotech opportunity. When evaluating biotechs make sure you’re looking at both the leadership and the pipeline. You’ll want the leaders to have prior commercialization experience and success.
