Been going down a rabbit hole and now I’m wondering how much are raises actually about your work vs just playing the game internally? At my current firm it feels pretty merit-based, with a bit of politics involved with our bonus, but does it play a larger role in other firms as I would think politics plays a bigger role in titles and ownership instead of salary.

I recently relocated to Ireland with M level. I got to know that compensation is less and it's about 65k Euros for the manager band.
