Pretty sure that’s illegal and you’re protected under a disability act…. You should definitely look into it and potentially lawyer up.
It’s not illegal if the position is being eliminated, among other reasons. A big holding company with a big legal team is going to know better than to break FMLA laws. However, for optics, I’ve seen them offer pregnant employees better severance packages
🙋🏻♀️ This happened to me, I got a lawyer and learned in my situation I had a case. I got a settlement. Feel free to dm me.
Essentially if there are widespread lay offs, or a legitimate restructuring, they can get away with it.
If there are only a few people being laid off, and not systemic lay offs, and your track record shows you’re a strong performer, have seen upward advancement and the need for the work you’re doing will still exist, you could have a case.
thanks very much for this, I’ll dm you
My SIL was laid off on her maternity leave from a large tech company this year. I assume they would make similar moves to a holding company agency. She was with the company for 5 years and they eliminated her whole team. She got her maternity leave paid out, 2 years for every year worked, and an additional 3 month lump sum. Hope this helps!
If the job would be eliminated whether you are on leave or not, it is legal. I knew someone that this happened to and that is what their lawyer told them.
Thank you, will do!
Proof that our devices are tracking our convos… this randomly popped up on my LinkedIn. This woman Brittany Lappano started a group called “the labor club” after being laid off while pregnant. Maybe look into it? Sharing a comment on one of her posts…
Yikes, thank you!
