Which agencies in San Francisco are weathering the storm the best? I haven’t seen much about layoffs or furloughs. It seems like the bigger agencies in NY have been hit harder.

What are some concrete reasons why someone in consulting would be fired, other than the obvious stupid things?

Anyone dealt with age discrimination at work or thought they were fired because of it? I have a strong hunch I was let go because I'm older than most of the team and they're trying to get a "fresh perspective." To me it just sounds like they're firing anyone over 50.

Having tough time deciding between IB & Consulting. My thought process: I have a "better" background for IB (TAS/valuation) and with tech layoffs, this might push more potential would-be tech applications to pursue consulting (there by increased competition)? Additionally, you can do IB intern and full time consulting but not vice versa. I prefer consulting, but IB seems like the "safer" option? And if consulting does get hit hard, I would hopefully have a full time IB offer via internship.

With so much uncertainty in the economy and waves of layoffs that have hit tech especially hard... do we think there's really such a thing as a recession-proof job anymore if you're not an "essential worker"?

I recently graduated with a masters degree in Data Analytics from University of Texas at San Antonio with a CGPA of 4.0. I am also awarded distinguished graduate student award for great academic standing and leadership skills. I have worked in india for 3 years for Uber and Amazon as Risk Analyst and quality specialist respectively. I am currently in my F1 OPT and have 30 days left before I submit my offer letter to USCIS. I made a couple errors at a new job. An important document to be distributed had wrong information on it, which was proofread by 2 other people. Then a couple of typos in emails, the person micromanaging me told me to send out but I didn’t fix the errors. Failed to meet a deadline but completed 95%. I was written up over all this last week, fired this week. There’s a lot more to this but I think it’s because the DM doesn’t like me.

Throwing this out there. My company was recently acquired and I was laid off yesterday. I’m currently 6m pregnant so looking for a company that isn’t going to have a problem with my giving birth in 3m (looking for a miracle). 13 YOE in Marketing (Brand, Digital, Product, Ops). You name it, I’ve probably done it. Team management exp but not required in next role. Just looking for 100% remote, flexibility, and company that puts families first and won’t give me a hard time about doctor appts 🙏🏻

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
