If you find an opportunity that pays well and you’re upfront about childcare needs, when you need to go, compromise on coming in or picking up work later at night, I don’t see why it can’t work out. You deserve this — and if TBWA isn’t seeing it (and they rarely do) it’s time for you to make a move.

Yes! If there is one thing we can take away from this horrible pandemic experience is that we cannot go back to the way things used to be, including making room for our needs as humans and people with families. For example, my husband takes the baby to daycare in the morning and I pick him up. I made my boss and full team aware that from 5 - 6 I am on pickup duty and I can’t do meetings or answer emails/chats until I get back. There hasn’t been an issue yet, and I don’t anticipate it. It’s all about communication! You’ve got this. Good luck!

I’ve been practicing for 6 years in-house at a media company (was a startup when I joined and is now more established), straight out of law school. Due to the small nature of our team (3 legal members), I have been involved in all areas of our business and even advise c-suite frequently about legal risks. I received a promotion, with another title bump on the horizon this year. I have an opportunity to go to a start-up media company as the sole attorney. Anyone else have experience doing this?

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I live with a lot of clutter. I've never been able to get the fridge, closet, study table organized till I'm driven to frustration and use anger as a fuel to clean up. My wife hates this side of me & after therapy sessions I decided to make lists and tag these assignments with my wife. The issue is we make these lists and never get started, and the only time I initiate it when I'm angry & frustrated. It appears my tolerance for clutter is way lower than my wife..
