Let’s not make it sound like Partners are broke, here.
They get their investments back many times over very quickly.
I should add a couple of things... no “bonus” ad you think about it as a partner. There is unit value which is targeted at $1000 per unit. Since I have been a partner, it has come in at between $925 and $1100. Averaging out around $1060.
You do buy into the partnership and you do pay for your own insurance and you do file taxes across all 50 states. So adjust down in your mind what you will be earning.
Partner is a long term wealth creation game. Your number of units grow, your pension is substantial, your opportunities to save for retirement are significant and your ability to loan the firm money at a nice interest rate through MORE all drive long term wealth creation.
What you will also find is that you can spend whatever you make. There are plenty of partners that look rich but are cash poor. Start learning to save now and always have multiple streams of income.
@SC1 Partners are too busy to hang out in a social media whatever chat like this. Lol
Loan rates vary year to year. You do earn interest on your unit ownership so much of the interest on the loans are covered in the interest the firm pays you. Each year you take on more loans to buy more units but you make more.
I don't know about their federal practice but I would imagine usually starting at combined 410-450k.
Finally someone actually gives us small slaves some hope to work up
They are a partner and owner so it isn’t salary anymore. It works very different than W2 and depends on how they elect for their partnership disbursement’s.
$380-$420k
Thank you @P1! When in your career did you decide this was the right move for you, and what type of cost-benefit analysis did you do against comparable options?
I'm up for SM, and feel like it's my last chance to leave for industry without it being a career setback.
Following. Same position as D4 but up next year (2019)

I'll let someone who knows weigh in, but I believe it should be about $400k
But they are also paying off their loan
And they have to continually invest at each level of partner which means a new loan on top of the previous ones.
Will the real partner stand up and answer?
There is a partner forum/bowl. Just join it and they will answer.
I thought partners are part owners so they get profit sharing , not salary?
Sorry.. Didn't feel like getting into details. But no, it is not a salary. Nor is it really profit sharing. It is ownership. If the partnership makes money, you make money. If it loses money, you cover the losses.
P1.. Since you jumped In. I would like to better understand, what do payments look like for that initial loan and what is the standard duration of the initial loan?
