I’m going back to school because I was doing the exact same thing!!! I’m getting my MSW so that I can be a therapist to go INTO schools & talk to kids for $75.00 an hour!!! I do it for FREE ANYWAY!!! Good luck!!!
Wow, that is awesome. God bless you! They need you.
I totally feel you on this. Transitioning out of education has been so so challenging for me. My advice would be to network like hell, keep applying to anything relevant, and maybe try tailoring your resume to highlight transferable skills. It might take some time, but you'll get there. You're not alone in this--I know so many teachers doing the same!
Check out LinkedIn too. Many resources
I have been starting to look at what else might work. Finishing out this school year and then I think it will be my last. Not really sure what to do next and have just been fixing up my resume and figuring out next moves. I hope that it picks up and you have something come through!
I feel the same. I even have my graduate degree and additonal certifications but haven't had interviews since last spring.
Why are school populations decreasing in your state?
Been trying for months as well 🥺
Applying for a job is always difficult especially if you don’t have a job or are miserable in the current position. The question you need to ask is why you are being passed as a candidate. It might not be your fault, sometimes these jobs are filled before they become available. Districts these days want teachers who have multiple certificates, and obviously there are more available jobs in STEM than music, world language, or arts.
Don’t feel discouraged! Are you learning a new skill that will make your resume stand out? There are plenty of free instructional videos on YouTube and affordable classes on apps like Coursera.
What fields are you applying for? Are these fields education adjacent? Your skills are highly marketable in certain careers including curriculum development, consulting, marketing, and even counseling. Your break will come through. It is trial and error until you find the right formula! :)
