set boundaries
Don’t become a practicing attorney.
This for sure (unless you genuinely love it)
Make sure work is not the most important thing in your life or your first priority. Have a family, hobbies, friendships and other interests that you put before your career. Work to live, don’t live to work. That will help you prioritize your job so you keep it, and do well so you can keep it, but always know there is something you put it on the back burner for.
Take your vacation leave and rely on junior associates more (if you're not the most junior). So much of the job really is training juniors and then taking a supervisor role when possible. At first this means more work to teach and review, but you'll quickly see which juniors you can actually rely on.
Make a five or ten year plan. Gives you something to look forward to. Unless it doesn’t; then maybe you should reconsider your career path 😭 (say this from personal experience in creating my own plan)
