The amount you spend on rent really depends on how much you rent. Most people under 35 either flatshare or share with their partner. For a 1 bedroom in zone 1-3 you’re probably looking at least £1200.
Moving from the US and would ideally not like to share a flat at least immediately. Hoping to be in zone 1 in a central area.
For a decent 1 bedroom/studio in zone 1, you’re probably looking at £1400 - £2000 per month. I’d strongly recommend that you consider Zone 2. Some areas are nicer than areas in zone 1 and you can get into the City within 15 minutes. Areas to consider outside of Zone 1 are Highbury, Angel, Hammersmith, Earls Court. If you want to be in ‘the thick of the action’ consider, Shoreditch, Holborn, Covent Garden, London Bridge, Kings Cross, Places like Marylebone and Chelsea are popular but pretty pricey so depends where you’re at with your career!
Places like Clapham and Brixton are popular but not sure if you’re coming to London for the first time
