In ear:
The Bose QC used to be my favorite and have incredible noise cancelling, but if you’re an Apple user you just can’t beat the convenience factor of AirPods Pro and the noise cancelling + audio quality are top tier these days.
Rising Star
AirPods
I don’t love in ear for flights cause of the pressure change and you tend to make it louder. I had the bowers and Wilkins px7 and loved them for flights, great sound and noise cancellation but a bit on the heavier side
Love my Bose quiet comforts. Well worth the price tag
Sony XM5s I think have the best noise cancellation if that's what you're prioritizing. But it's really splitting hairs between the QC and AirPods Max etc. If you want it REALLY QUIET and still have music/boom/podcast etc on, then get some wired IEM and then put the noise cancelling over ear headphones on top of that with the ANC turned on but play music through the IEMs. That's probably too much circus for most people but it makes it so quiet, no crying baby can vex me.
They don’t make headphones big enough for flights to wear man. Not that I know of at least. 😅 .. jokes aside, despite the poor app experience, Sony xm4 that’s have do a great job. I like them a lot. I want to get the AirPods Max, but very hard to justify having both. So I haven’t bought that yet. I hear that’s great too
Bose QC, AirPods Max, Sony XM would be the ones I’d recommend. Choose what you like best.
I’ll be honest this will be my first pair of over ear headphones for traveling so I’m looking for an overall option that doesn’t break the bank. Ideally would love BW PX7 but too expensive so I may go for Sony XM over the Bose QC since I heard the Bose QC doesn’t have the greatest mic for the times I need to hop on a Teams call.
But if I am wrong on my assumptions please let me know! Just what I’ve been reading online.
Yeah, I actually was targeting the 200-300 range. I’m pretty convinced on the BW S2E. Sam’s Club has them for 280$
Also went to bestbuy and tried the old and new gen Bose/Sony. Didn’t fall in love with either of them.
XM6 took the cake but out of price point I’m willing to spend.
Gonna try the S2E!
